1. Regarding theological roots – interesting article, thanks! Anyway, i won’t argue that there’s no contempt on part of extremist jews, regarding christianity – but what about the other side? Matthew 24:21? Great Tribulation, dispensationalism?

What i’m driving at is that I think you will find extremist, who see the other religion as inferior, on both sides.

3. Sure, as I wrote in point 1 of my answer – I won’t dispute the danger of the jewish/ israeli far right. But again, what about the extremists within their “allies”? Let’s take John Hagee as an example.

So, to sum it up, he says that jews themselves are fully responsible for antisemitism and all that – which is in fact an antisemitic point of view, I think. He furthermore advocates war in the middle east, a war he knows will probably destroy Israel and kill millions of people, and he justifies all that with biblical prophecies. And wasn’t ist the case, that the only ones who will survive, will be jews who convert to christianity? So what seems as judeaophilia, would in fact be a very dubious view on jews in general.

Again, what i’m driving at is that I think there’re extremists, who perceive their own religion as superior, on both sides. But who uses whom? I think both sides try that…

2. You can put for “liberal” media: “main-stream media”….
if you think FOX news is not strictly PRO Israel as CNN (ABC etc).. You didn’t have watched them properly…

And the Mainstream Media played a BIG PART in it, He was TV Preacher.. Without constantly media coverage he wouldn be famous at all… if they want him “dead”, they would done something like they are now doing to Ron Paul…

1. Falwell supported Israel and got that learjet, true. Moreover, he got the Jabotinsky-award, named after a right-wing Zionist leader. Anyway, the support for Israel by Christians in general, and Evengelicals, respective Fundamentalists, in particular has historical and theological roots.
Christian Zionism ist a topic which deserves its own article.

2. To suggest the “liberal” media is to blame, reminds me of some old right-wing conspiracy theory. Falwell got coverage by “liberal” as well as “conservative” media, but he got celebrated by the last. As to how many conservative pundits are around in TV and others, have a look here:

3. Fact is that Falwell got not only support by right-wing israeli, he was heavily financed by ultra-conservative american foundations, like Scaife and Bradley. Regarding the latter, there are many more points why Falwell was successful, which have to do with domestic policy in the States, and not only his support for Israel.

The fact that the Christian Right and Israeli right-wingers may have something in common (“no surrender” in the Holy Land, Islam as “eternal enemy”) should not lead us to ignore the fact, that the christian Right views Jews as Christians 2nd class, while many Israeli view the C.R. as dangerous – so what we have is basically some kind of strategic alliance. But *who* uses *whom* in this case, is a different question.
